SKYWARN REPORTING




What to Report


Reports of Severe Weather and Severe Weather Only, Which includes the following:

Reports Of
Rotational Phenomena (Tornadoes, Waterspouts, Wall Clouds, & Funnel Clouds)
Hail of any size
Damaging Winds 50 knots/58 MPH or greater
Flooding Rains 2" per hour or 4" per day
Damage that is directly weather related
Flooding (Coastal, or Inland - rain caused)

What To Report When Checking Into The Skywarn Net (The Preferred Method of Reporting)
CALLSIGN & SKYWARN ID # (If You Have One)
TIME & EVENT TYPE (See Reports Above)
LOCATION (Nearest Cross Streets)& DIRECTION OF TRAVEL
IF ASKED, GIVE VERY BRIEF REPORT ON YOUR LOCAL WX CONDITIONS
AFTER Making your initial report use your TACTICAL CALLSIGN.
For example: My SKYWARN I.D. is PIN017A, so my tactical callsign is PINELLAS 17A

How to Report Directly to the NWS Office
Call the 1-800 Unlisted Number
Identify yourself with Spotter ID number
Report the Phenomena and Time Observed
Please report only event criteria that are listed above.
